On November 2012 was Govan's hundredth anniversary of Govan being incorporated into the City of Glasgow. A 100th anniversary with many people would be a time of celebration but still Govanites defiantly proclaiming they are Govanites first and Glaswegians second. Back in 1912 the Govan Burgh Commissioners didn't give in to the powers to be in Glasgow and this fight was known as the ultimate battle out of many that Govan would have with Glasgow, know as the "Annexation Battles".
